Designation of grinding wheel quality
The specification or designation of a grinding wheel quality is determined by five components:
- grain quality
- grain size
- hardness / grade
- structure / density
- type of bond
We describe our quality designation or specification as follows, for example:
EW | 80 | H | 8 | V 5 |
grain quality | grain size | hardness / grade | structure / density | type of bond |
---|---|---|---|---|
NK Regular aluminium oxide | 14 very coarse | E extra soft | 1 especially dense | V vitrified |
HK mixed fused alumina | 16 | F | 2 | S silicate |
EW white fused alumina | 24 | G | 3 dense | R rubber |
ER pink fused alumina | 30 coarse | H | 4 | RF rubber fibre reinforced |
EU dark red fused alumina | 36 | I | 5 medium | B resin |
EK monocrystalline alumina | 40 | J soft | 6 | BF resin fibre reinforced |
ZR zirconia alumina | 46 | K | 7 open | E shellac |
