Factory Visit in Italy – Focus on Technology and Gear Grinding
In early July, our CEO Holger Zische visited our factory in Italy to discuss key production topics with the local team—especially around grinding wheels used in gear grinding.
Focus on Gear Grinding
We reviewed processing times on our Burri CNC profiling machine PM 550T, which offers cost-effective pre-profiling of grinding wheel blanks for:
- Worm wheels for generating gear grinding
- Grinding wheels for profile gear grinding
- Gear rack grinding
- Additional geometries for cylindrical, surface, and deep grinding
Our pre-profiled worm grinding wheels for generating gear grinding are compatible with machines from renowned manufacturers, including Reishauer, Liebherr, Kapp, Gleason, Höfler, Niles, and Klingelnberg.
We currently profile worm wheels for gears with module sizes from 0.5 up to 9, and pressure angles between 14° and 27°. Other modules and pressure angles are available on request.

Depending on the gear module, we hold different grain specifications in stock:
- Grade 80 grit for module > 2.5
- Grade 100 grit for modules between 1.5 and 2.5
- Grade 120 grit for modules < 1.5
